Emma, Tyler and Shane have been best friends since they were kids. Along with their college addition, Rob, the four friends have an exciting life in NYC. In fact, Emma Sloan appears to have it all.

Despite being happy with her current situation, a big family announcement leaves Emma questioning whether she is truly content with her life. With her thirtieth birthday fast approaching she vows to find her 'perfect' man any way she can. But Emma will soon discover that the path of true love never runs smoothly and that sometimes, instead of chasing love, you have to wait for love to find you...

almost loved it. yeah, almost.

The writing was perfect, but the plot wasn't my cup of tea.

meet my Emma..

and my Shane...

"What is perfection? Does it even exist? Is it attainable? Millions of people spend countless hours in search of something perfect. Perfect dress, perfect shoes, perfect haircut, perfect job. But mostly we spend our time searching for the perfect partner. We all crave someone to share all of life's experiences with. Someone to grow old with." - Emma

What is the story all about?

This is the story of how I found my perfection. The road to where I am now was treacherous and bumpy, and far from perfect. And while my life may not seem desirable to most, I realize now that that's what makes it special. Things are perfect only in the eye of the beholder. It's the uniqueness that drives us. Life isn't about what is perfect for everybody else; it's about what is perfect for you. - Emma

Emma was living with her three best friends, and they were hot guys and not girls. She kept going out living her life like college kids with them although she was almost thirty.

Each of my boys filled their own role in my life. Rob was the crazy asshole that I did dumb shit with. Tyler, being more of the brother type, was always up for a little mischief. And Shane… well Shane was just there through it all.

She thought that her life was perfect, but a family reunion changed her opinion.

"..My life is great, but maybe I want a perfect life."

So she decided that she wanted to build a family of her own. Thats when she met Bradley (or whatever his name is, I just don't care) and she fell in love with him. However, her favourite boy, Shane, didn't like that.

There was only one person in the world that could help me muddle through my feelings at the moment. In fact he had been the only thing to ever calm me down during moments of crisis. He had been there for me from the very first time I had my heart broken.

Why?

And that was when it hit me, square in the chest. I leaned back against the wall in an attempt to keep myself steady. Holy shit, I couldn't believe it; I loved her.
I mean I really loved her. - Shane

Shane wanted her to be happy, but the happy seemed to contradict against his happiness.

I clenched my jaw, because-as fucked up as it sounds-in that moment I hated her and I hated that I loved her. I hated that she couldn't see it, but mostly I hated that she didn't love me too.

"What are you going to do?"
"I don't know," I managed to mutter, "but I'm open to suggestions?" - Shane's POV

And to tell you guys about the reason why this book was an 'almost' loved book is that..I hated Emma, with all my freaking heart.

She felt blessed to have her friends...

I felt blessed to have such great friends. We had made some pretty good memories together, and they would be people that I would cherish for the rest of my life. Yet, there was a part of me that knew it was time for a change. It was time for me to grow up and move on with my life. And that is exactly what I intended to do. - Emma

But she freaking ditched them for the Bradley guy. Seriously, what kind of friend do that? A bitchy friend I guess.

It was an ongoing argument of sorts between the boys. They constantly razzed one another about who was the favorite, always biding for 'brownie points.' But everyone knew deep down that my relationship with Shane was sacred. He and I knew everything about each other and we had been there for each other through it all. It was only natural that he would be my best friend.

And what made me hate her most is that she was one veryselfish girl. She didn't care about others, especially about my poor Shane.

Desolate, I pulled out my cell phone. Part of me hoped she had called or sent a text whilst the other contemplated whether or not I should call her.
"Don't do it."
I turned to see Tyler towering above me, covered with glitter and beaded necklaces. I turned away from him without saying a word.
"The way I see it is if she hasn't bothered to call you, then she's not thinking about you. She's there with Bradley. She's not missing us."

I love my books to have happy endings, but the whole time I was reading this book I was wishing for an extremely painful ending for Emma. I just hated her that much.

"...I didn't want to be the one to break her heart or upset her in any way. That's why I had been stuck in this shitty situation to begin with. I had always wanted Emma to be happy. - Shane

A couture wedding dress designer to the rich and famous, Lexi LaCroix’s image means everything. When that touch fills far more than just Lexi’s physical needs, she finds herself torn between the career she needs and the bad-boy she craves.

Jax Chamberlin gave up the superficial life of acting for the thrill of running his own stunt company years ago. When the charming and mysterious Lexi offers him a totally anonymous hook-up during an out of town trip, Jax accepts. Only Lexi is more sextacular than charming, and Jax wants more.

But Lexi’s got a major hang-up over his renegade lifestyle, and Jax isn’t willing to change his ways. Especially not when he discovers who she really is. "..depressed miserable characters.." ~ Jennifer Kyle

DIVIDER

"Jax came off as feeling too insecure most of the time. He keep waiting for Lexi to drop the bomb on him and make her demand. While, Lexi came off as putting too much into maintaining her image. What wrong with Jax, anyway? He had his own career and a hot bode to die for. Considering she's selling her dress for ten of thousands dollars, she sounded too insecure about her financial situation." ~Amanda

"...how can someone be so stupid not seeing his/her having a sex with even it's in the dark? Right?" ~ Claudine Pascua

"...I didn’t fully grasp her conflict or hesitation regarding him.  ~ Kari

"Lexi was just ok for me, I kind of got frustrated with her at times ~ Kristen

"It's a nice sweet storyline between two people from opposite walks of life. But they really aren't so different, they're actually quite similar and been through similar situations...it didn't hold interest for me." ~Margaret

"The book was okay. Good start, good writing. The plot is good too. But I didn't connect to any of it. Even in MC. I don't have problem wit insta-love and insta-lust, but for this, it didn't hit me. It fell flat on me. There is something missing from them(IMO)." ~ Len

DIVIDER

"Cheers to a... Meh read. Oh the joy. I wouldn't go so far as to say this book was horrible per se, but it certainly wasn't anything to write home about. All of the high ratings are actually a bit of a shock to take in but alas, I suppose I came across another "everyone loved but me" incident." ~✿Alyssa✿

"SORRY guys- I just did not get it??" ~ Farah *Professor Dean's Beauty*

3.5 Captivating-but-Disturbing Stars

description

People keep slapping this book with a five-stars rating and even claim it as the best in the series...But I'm notPeople, so I'm sticking to my 3.5 stars.

MY ONLY REASON would be: The book was an example of exaggeration at its best .

Claire didn't learn because she was too stupid to be taught..
Tony was still Tony because he was.. Tony..
Sophia existence was useless because she was useless..
and
Catherine? You're a maid , just do your f*cking job!

I should've stopped at book one. :c

p/s: I was VERY disturbed by one thing...

(SPOILER!!!!)

.
.
.
.
.
Claire having sex with who's-that-guy..and Tony being okay with it...yeah I know, this isn't some kind of fairytale love story (it's a thriller for God sake!) but I just couldn't forgive them for ruining my picture of love story :c

A Different Blue by Amy Harmon

Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know her real name or when she was born. Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old. At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on with life, she is just a senior in high school. With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least. Tough, hard and overtly sexy, she is the complete opposite of the young British teacher who decides he is up for the challenge, and takes the troublemaker under his wing.

This is the story of a nobody who becomes somebody. It is the story of an unlikely friendship, where hope fosters healing and redemption becomes love. But falling in love can be hard when you don't know who you are. Falling in love with someone who knows exactly who they are and exactly why they can't love you back might be impossible.

I wrote a poem especially for this book ;) description

I tried
again and again
without sighing
without crying
without stopping..

description

But I just couldn't
couldn't finish it
couldn't devour it till the end
couldn't peruse all the words..

description

I hate giving up
I hate not finishing what I've started
I hate being that kind of loser..

description

But all the HISTORICAL, METAPHORICAL, and MYTHICAL sh*t
are just not for the SARCASTICAL (okay, it's SARCASTIC but who cares :D) me..
So can you please just excuse me?

description

LOL I guess POETRY-cal sh*t is not for me too!
