Cage (Corps Security, #2)
Cage by Harper SloanMy rating: 2 of 5 stars

Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?
Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?
The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.
All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.

*If you can't stand sarcasm, stay the hell away from this review*

Hello everyone! Today I wanna share my frustration, anger and disappointment with you guys. So lets begin with my feelings:

Before reading the book:

Seriously who wouldn't feel so when people keep telling us that the book has a hot alpha male in it?

While reading the book:

I didn't sign up for this!

After reading the book:

Glad the torture is over.

Why? Oh baby, fantastic question!

Well I need to introduce the characters first before I could explain it, so....

Meet the hot Cage .

Who is Cage? He's supposed to be your perfect alpha male. Hot. Sexy. Muscular. Strong. Possessive. Caring. And oozes sex.

Now, meet the sexy Melissa .

Who is Melissa? She's supposed to be your perfect sassy woman. Confident. Sexy. Beautiful. And oozes sex.

This is the story of their sex life (and other unrealistic things in between)

They met at a hospital and their ridiculous love story began.

The story? Consist of these weird elements.

1. Abuse : It's every-freaking-where. Cage's sister died of abuse. Melissa's sister died of an abuse too. Guess what? All the abused woman got abused and didn't freaking bother to let others know until it's freaking too late (seriously, someone please buy them a freaking WATCH so they know that time is ticking!) And did I mention Cage's stupid friend, Izzie (from Book 1, Axel (I hated her then, I hated her more now))? She (sadly) didn't die of abuse but she did get abused (which probably messed with her head so much that she became a stupid whiny woman or it could be that she's just stupid)

2. Paranormal feelings : It was quite surprising that nobody tagged this book as paranormal! Well, I'm referring to insta-love brought to a freaking new level. If you ask me, I would guess that they are actually werewolves) They knew that each other was the ONE in 3 days ONLY (werewolves always know who their mates are, right?). On day one, they exchanged glances only. Next he had his hand on her p*ssy on day two (while dancing in a club). He didn't even know her name, and no, they weren't having a one night stand yet, they met, and parted ways after that. On day three, they had sex marathon for a few days (they are werewolves, of course they have that much energy!). Also, on the third day, they already started sharing their buried deep secrets (which they never told even their closest friends and family probably because (sex is the payment for sharing the secrets, and they can't have sex with family and friends :D)).

3. Animalistic Behaviors : Firstly, there's the sex marathon. Round after round (we normal human usually have other things to do, but they don't, remember, they're werewolves!). Next, there's Amanda. Who is she? A b*tch (double meaning there, she could pass as a female dog too). Cage broke up with her after mating meeting Melissa and told her to stay away from him. But she just didn't understand werewolf human language, so she became a stalker and stalked both Cage and Melissa. She was freaking annoying, barking screaming here and there like a whiny b*tch she is. Pathetic loser. Hmm, did I mentioned that she was a sex addict b*tch too? Yes she was (animal, remember?).

4. Ridiculousness : Melissa. Freaking Melissa. That's the name of the ridiculous thing I discovered in the book. Before meeting her, I didn't realize that sassy could rhyme with stupid too (not in the word sense though). Anyway, she was sassy and she was stupid (she's a serious rival to Izzie on the stupidity level). Remember our Amanda? Yeah, that Amanda. During her stalking, she managed to accomplish a few things: pulling Melissa's hair, calling her a b*tch, a home wrecker and stuff at workplace, causing an embarrassing scene for her, causing her to get fired (when she needed the job like freaking badly), and flattening her car tyres with a knife and lastly hurting her with a knife. What did Melissa do? Push her a bit and then refusing to press charges or even put a restraining order on that crazy b*tch. (I have a feeling that Melissa's actually a weird secret masochist, she loves being hurt and stuff).

My conclusion:
-If you want a steamy book, read the book, the sex were hot.
-if you want to read a steamy book, with a plot, read the book. It did have a plot.
-but if you want to read a steamy book with a realistic story, stay the heck away from the book, don't even come close to the cover on GR.

That's all, take care everyone :)

Only For You (For You #1)Only For You by Genna RulonMy rating: 4 of 5 stars

“In its purest form love is self-sacrificing, eternal, selfless, enduring, truthful, forgiving and indulgent. It also feels an awful lot like a kick to the stomach when you try to fight it!”
All Everleigh Carsen wanted to do was complete her final semester at Hensley University and begin the life she carefully planned.
When a wave of violent crime seizes campus, Everleigh is persuaded to attend a school sponsored self-defense seminar by her best friend, where she meets volunteer instructor, Hunter Charles. After Everleigh’s biting sarcasm induces Hunter to eject her from class, a tempestuous relationship is born.
Everleigh is determined to forget the striking man, but fate—that fickle shrew—continuously intervenes. Unable to escape him, she declares Hunter an enemy combatant. The only complication…Hunter is resolutely pursuing vindication…by any means necessary. Verbal warfare ensues, and despite Everleigh’s ingenious efforts, in Hunter, she has finally found her equal.
Only For You is a compelling tale of friendship, desire, and redemption—brimming with intelligent characters, witty dialogue, unexpected twists, profound sorrow, unfettered hope, and love’s unassailable perseverance.
• This story is appropriate for readers 18+
• Only For You is the first book in the For You series by Genna Rulon. Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone novel.

Quotes from Only For You:
“When someone tells you something about themselves you don’t want to hear—believe them.”
"You’re going to listen to me, and for once you’re going to hear what I say and not read between lines that aren’t there.”
“I was a fool, alone, preparing to do what every fool did at such times—I was going to a bar to drink myself smart.”
“He had a skull and crossbones label on him, but I drank his poison nevertheless and loved it; now I needed an antidote.”
“If you don’t remember your value, no one else will. Don’t ever settle, Ev. You’re far too precious a treasure to squander.”
"You'll continue to be a bitch no matter what, but I'm glad you aren't a callous, self-absorbed one."
“I stepped off the merry-go-round for a reason. It made me dizzy and I kept ending up in the same spot. It may have been fun for a short ride, but was never headed anywhere.”
"Jose had loosened my tongue; curse him, the ninety proof bastard."
"We played hot potato with my heart—me throwing it to him, him tossing it back to me. Every time the music stopped, I was always the one holding my bruised organ."

I am actually still feeling like this (a day after finishing the book):

If you're a big fan of Beautiful Disaster and Slammed , you might wanna read this book. This book was some sort of a secret lovechild between those two, packed with humours and feelings.

The book was..*flips open a dictionary* amazing. The first half was fun but the second half was downright brilliant.

When I received an email requesting another review, I was like this *too honored that people bother requesting my nonsense review lol*:

But when the author mentioned that the book was like BD and Slammed, I went straight to this:

And I extremely expected myself to be like this:

But I actually ended up doing this:

and feeling this too:

and this (view spoiler):

despite the fact that certain parts made me wanna do this to people:

The characters, they were the epitome of fun. Firstly, there's Everleigh and Hunter, they were dripping with sarcasms all the time!

“Sir, you are no gentleman.”
“And you, Miss, are no lady.”

The banters they had was so damn funny at times that I might need a few days to recover from it.

“But who will bring me coffee in the mornings and breakfast treats?”
“You’re running a coffee shop. You have those items at your disposal,” Hunter laughed.
“That is true, but who will give me big bear hugs each day?”
“I’m sure you can persuade Sam to fill in for me when needed.”
“She’s physically incapable of giving me a bear hug—she can only provide tiny cub hugs.”

The friendship and relationship they developed was nicely crafted (view spoiler).

Next, there's Sam.

She was selfless and patient when needed, tough and bitchy when required, and fellow party girl once I was able.

She made me laugh, she made me cry and she made me smile. She was like the bestest friend ever! (Seriously, I want a friend like her too!).

After that, there's Griffin.

I wanted to adopt him as my big brother and keep him forever.

He was like the sh*t for me. This may sound weird, but I loved him more than I did Hunter because if I had this kind of guy pining for me, Hunter would be just a memory to me lol Overall, I loved the book! The ending was kinda rushed but the thing nearing the ending, that was the best part of all (view spoiler)

Seriously, I loved the book, like a lot. And my review isn't in any way swayed by the fact that I got the arc copy for free from the author herself. Go freaking read it yourself and understand what on Earth I just blabbered in this rant.

p/s: read from the synopsis that there would be book two! I hope it's Sam and Griffin's story. :)

Unbeautifully (Undeniable, #2)Unbeautifully by Madeline SheehanMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Warning: This is not a story about fate or destiny. This is a story about pain, sorrow, and suffering. This is an impulsive whirlwind romance between two lovers that are not meant to be together. Theirs is not a world with sunshine and roses. Instead, their love blossoms in a secret world full of crime, violence, and death. Their story is about what can be born from nightmares.
Danielle “Danny” West is the daughter of Deuce West, President of the Hell’s Horsemen Motorcycle Club. A sweet and beautiful girl, she loses her way, searching for things that are always out of her reach. Erik “Ripper” Jacobs is the Sergeant of Arms in the Hell’s Horsemen. Once a man who always had a smile on his face, his life takes a turn for the worst when a tragedy befalls him, leaving him scarred and broken. During a midsummer night, Danny and Ripper’s paths cross, forever changing their lives. Hastily, their lust turns to love until another tragedy forces them apart. On a journey that is marred with ugliness and chaos, Danny and Ripper must discover if their unforeseen connection can find the beauty in their world.
This is Danny and Ripper’s story.
Everything has beauty. Even the ugly. Especially the ugly.
Because without ugly, there would be no beauty.

3.5 captivating stars :) Lets see, what have we got here?

A spoiled biker princess? Check.
A cowardice badass biker? Check.
A never-ending sizzling chemistry? Check.
A lot of fucked-up situations? Double check.

So this is the story of how two people had sex and then somehow magically managed to turn their lust to love.

Danny is our heroine. She was pretty much a spoiled biker princess who was kinda sheltered from a hard life. She wasn't that experienced in sex but somehow he managed to make Ripper, a man-whore, to be addicted to having sex with her. (Magical much right? It's a fiction book, not a freaking memoir, so suck it up!)

Ripper is your cowardice hero. He was scarred, which means ugly as f*ck and somehow managed to make Danny, the beautiful Hell Horsemen's Prez's daughter, to like and then love him. Ain't he lucky? He could get a free bullet on his head for even contemplating taking her out for a date, yet he's f*cking her? Not good...unless they kept it a secret from they did just that.

But then sh*t hit the fan when something bloody happened and Danny was forced to do something that she was supposed to regret for life (yet she didn't because she was quite heartless I guess). Ripper took off running just to show how f*cking great he was at being a coward. (and dam if he wasn't a master at that). And Danny being Danny finally decided to show everyone at the Club that she was really a BRATTY SPOILED biker princess, thus pissing off her dad, Deuce, (but mostly me, I had a slight depression while reading this part) by moping over Nothing. (that Nothing being Ripper and guess what? None of the bikers freaking knew that it was him. Maybe it was because the bikers were a bunch of idiots?)

So time passed by..(which thankfully was a quite fast event in this book) and Ripper finally returned Danny dating ZZ. (don't worry, it was a typical thing for girls and boys to hop from bed to bed in the club, because you know, it would kill them not to have sex because they were born hornier than normal human). The coward was pissed at the brat. (which was kinda unrealistic for me because that's like an idiot calling another idiot an IDIOT)

*Fast forward* ( I got sick of this slow storytelling )

Danny broke a heart. Ripper broke a few bones. And they had their happy ever after, biker style.

(Surprisingly, the book didn't annoy me as much as book one did. But seriously, WTF is wrong with these slutty bikers and club whores? Is it really that damn hard to keep it in your pants???)

Out of Line by Jen McLaughlinMy rating: 1 of 5 stars

Desperate to break free…
I've spent my entire life under my father’s thumb, but now I'm finally free to make my own choices. When my roommate dragged me to my first college party, I met Finn Coram and my life turned inside out. He knows how to break the rules and is everything I never knew I wanted. A Marine by day and surfer by night, he pushes me away even as our attraction brings us closer. Now I am finally free to do whatever I want. I know what I want. I choose Finn.
Trying to play by the rules...
I always follow orders. My job, my life, depends on it. I thought this job would be easy, all the rules were made crystal clear, but when I met Carrie Wallington, everything got muddy. She's a rule I know I shouldn't break, but damn if I don’t inch closer to the breaking point each time I see her. I’m ready to step out of line. And even worse? I’m living a lie. They say the truth will set you free, but in my case…
The truth will cost me everything.

The book was a MISTAKE .

My notes while painfully reading the book:

  • seriously? calm down with the exaggerations please!

  • yeah right, go on and assume that all rich girls are brats, showing how judgemental idiots can be!

  •  OMG! She's so open to strangers that I wonder why she's still alive till now! Everyone's too nice. Where on Earth is this alternate world where she's living? I wanna be there too, fake or not!

  • I'm sorry, did I miss the memo? because seriously, what I have read contradicted with what HE just said!

  • that's it, I'm gonna pretend like I am a naive college girl because seriously, that seems to work well in attracting NICE hot sexy muscular boys men!

  • you're in college..shouldn't you be flirting with college boys ? no? okay.

  • FRIENDS???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  • no?

  •  I QUIT!

To be honest...

It was such a nice ride, I even lol'ed here and there...

which made me feel like declaring war with all the fans of this book, like this:

but in the end, all I could say is:

This book is just not for me.

Lets meet Maise...

I was too young to care about boring adult jobs. I was still testing out how my heart worked. ~ Maise

and lets meet Evan...

“I see the lights every night. It seems like the whole world has figured out how to be happy, but no one’s letting me in on the secret.” ~ Evan

This is the story of how the two fucked up souls met and fell in love.

“I like that you’re kind of fucked up, because I’m kind of fucked up.”

He made her happier than she has ever been.

Wesley watched me through his phone camera.
“What are you looking at?” I said.
“Escaped mental patient.”
I loomed close to the lens. He tried to edge away. “Joke’s on you,” I said. “I never escaped. This is the asylum.”
“You’re fucking crazy,” he said admiringly.
“Just you wait.”

and they totall burned with sizzling chemistry..

Our gazes struck like flint and steel. And I realized that gunsmoke smell wasn’t ozone. It was us. We burned. ~ Maise

But when he's her teacher and she's her student, that sorts of f*cked things up.

There’s something so terrible about wanting something you’ve already had. You know exactly what you’re missing. Your body knows precisely how to shape itself around the ache, the hollowness that wants to be filled. ~ Maise

But when temptation and maybe love is too hard to resist will they be able to restrain themselves?

“Are you in love with him?”
I rolled my head on the plank to look at Wesley. “I don’t think I know what being in love is yet. But this is different than anything I’ve ever felt.”
“What’s it feel like?”
“Remember when you thought I was jumping off to kill myself?”
He winced.
“It’s like that,” I said. “But no one catches you. You’re just hanging over infinity.”

Will they go through every hurdles thrown at them unscathed or will they break?

“I can’t hold on to you. You’re like that shooting star. Just a trail of fire in my hands.”
And the Oscar goes to Evan Wilke, for putting the first fine, hairline crack in the ruby of my heart.

Go freaking figure it out yourseld, because I am not your freaking mother who's gonna read the book as a bedtime story for you ;)

Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno, #1)Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard

I tried reading this book last year and it ended as a DNF..since I'm a very persistent reader, I tried it again today. Guess what? It ended as a DNF too today!

I am not sure why but the reason is one of those:

it freaking bored me!

it freaking frustrated me!

Well come to think about it, it's actually the horrible combination of both.

First of all, lets start with the boring part.

It's nobody's fault but I was extremely bored by Beatrice and Dante, and Dante and Beatrice. All the freaking hidden meanings behind their words and sentences creeped the heck out of me. Just go kill yourself if you're really that depressed, don't bother trying to depress me too!

Next, onto the frustrating part.

Gabriel and Julia. That's the frustrating part. Julia is an extraordinarily naive girl that really needed a hard slap on the face so that she could stop freaking living in her freaking fantasy. Wake up girl, life can't be as pretty as you wish. Gabriel also needs a slap, with a chair. I don't care that he's screwed in the head, just don't freaking screw Julia's small head. That girl is an idiot, just let her be and go being depressed alone!

Okay I am extremely tired of this book. Don't freaking dare to suggest this series to me anymore!

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The book was like H.M. Ward's other books, interesting. She's not my favorite author but I found myself enjoying this book a lot. Well, I guess it was because of the premise of the student-teacher relationship :) I enjoyed the book but it was not my best read so that's why the one star is missing :D

p/s: the book is part of a series, so there's a cliffhanger (which sucks) at the end of the book. (although it's a cliffhanger, I won't read the next book (view spoiler)

What a ride!

Meet Zig Zag

I’m a thirty-one year old man with an eighteen-year-old daughter. Judge me bitches. I don’t give a shit.

and Storm

this is the story of them and the Breakeck family.

Storm is just another piece of ass, but for some reason, something about this woman fascinates me. ~ ZZ

I want him, all of him, and yet he only wants my pussy. ~ Storm

He wanted her and she wanted him but he was afraid of love and she wanted his love.

“How much longer are you gonna keep withstanding me, darlin?”

Storm stands up straight and grabs the clipboard off the bar before answering me. And what she says blows my fucking mind wide open.

“Just until you fall in love with me,” she says seriously.

Love? “I don’t fall in love, baby.”

She slowly backs away smiling. “Oh, but you will and it’ll be with me,” she says with a wink.

Fuck Me.

Storm got it that he was a badass biker but heck if she didn't know what lies beneath the tough facade. So she was determined to reveal it. But it was proven that it wasn't easy, at all!

He was always honest with me, and when a man tells you that you deserve all the love in the world, and it’s a man like ZZ, you tend to believe him. And I do. I believe I deserve it all. My problem is that I want that man to be ZZ.

But Storm wasn't an idiot. Eventually she got tired of trying so she stopped. But that didn't mean she stopped loving...and hurting.

Baby I’ll be your best friend. I’ll be the voice you need to hear, but I won’t be the body you want to be near. Because baby, you just want a few nights and I want more than that from you.” ~ Storm

Somehow she finally did it, she made him fall i love with her, without even trying! But heck if everything became perfect right away. There were shootings, attacks and stuff.

Perfect is a word that some idiot made up to describe a fairytale. And me? I don’t have time for fuckin fairytales. ~ Storm

My thoughts:

Okay. It was a really enjoyable read for me. I love both of the characters. ZZ made me laugh like crazy, he was the epitome of fun. I admired Storm. She was brave and smart. I was glad hat she wasn't one of those pathetic chicks that bawl when faced with unrequited love. As for the rest of the characters, I was glad that we were given a few POVs from a few members of the Breakeck family. Overall it was nice to have everyone back.

p/s: This book seriously needs an editor, hence the missing star :c
