Kane Richards Must Die by Shanice Williams

Posted by miss fifi at Wednesday, December 05, 2012 0 comments

After an unexpected transfer to the States for her senior year, Suranne's new friends give her just one instruction: stay away from Kane Richards. According to everyone, he's a heartless playboy concerned only for himself. With one glance, it's easy to see why he gets away with it. But things aren't always what they seem, especially when he sets his sights on her and whispers that she's different.
Despite all the red flags, Suranne considers whether or not his intentions are genuine or if she's simply another name on his list.
In the process, she may just uncover the real Kane Richards. But, when it comes down to it, the real Kane Richards may not want to be found. Filled with raw emotion, Kane Richards Must Die explores relationships, trust, love, and what can happen when life takes an unexpected turn.

hmm... Just finished this book. After Find You in The Dark, I really do not want to come across any stupid erotica book anymore, so I chose this one since it is labelled young adult. And guess what? This one is pretty much a book for slightly MATURE young adult (which I am) and I'm so not happy with the slihtly MATURE parts. Call me immature or what, but I prefer sweet love stories over sweet stupid heated ones. Well at least this one is better than Find You in The Dark in the romance section. If you're a fan of making outs, this is so your kind of book, but if you're like me, this one is just okay. Okay the story follows Suranne love story with an infamous playboy in her new school, Kane. She has been warned about him but she still falls in love with him and surprisingly (or is it not-surprisingly?) he falls for her too. And they are head over heels over each other. And basically, that's all this book is about. And Kane's secret? Not that big to me, plain normal I'd call it. Well for the sweet parts, I gotta give this book 4 stars too. The one star got stolen by the cliche parts in the story. As an overall, this book is a sweet read. Read it if you're planning to.

Spoiler:

Surenne goes back to London, and after graduation, Kane goes there too.

Find You in the Dark
by A. Meredith Walters

Maggie Young had the market on normal. Normal friends, normal parents, normal grades...normal life.
Until him.
Clayton Reed was running from his past and an army of personal demons that threatened to take him down. He never thought he had a chance at happiness.
Until her.
Maggie thought their love could overcome anything. Clay thought she was all he needed to fix his messy life.
That together, they could face the world.
But the darkness is always waiting.
Sometimes the greatest obstacle to true love is within yourself.

 My Thoughts:

I picked up this book because I love the topic discussed in, mental illness plus brooding hero is just so my kind of hero lol The writing was great, the characters were nice. So what about the story right? hmmm... This book is so not for young adult, I can be sure about that. There are some steamy scenes in it which young adults like me should skip. As an overall, the story is nice. Although Clay's problems are a bit scary for me and Maggie is a bit naive at times. A sentence to fully describe this book : Clay needs Maggie and Maggie needs Clay. (SPOILER ALERT!) The ending is nice, with Clay letting her go although they are so raspberrying in love with each other.. I give this book 4 stars for the awesome story and the simple writing. The missing star is for the steamy scenes lol

Julianne counts the days until she can pack her bags and leave her old-money, tradition-bound Southern town where appearance is everything and secrecy is a way of life. A piano virtuoso, she dreams of attending a prestigious music school in Boston. Failure is not an option, so she enlists the help of New England Conservatory graduate Isaac Laroche to help her.
She can’t understand why he suddenly gave up Boston’s music scene to return to the South. He doesn’t know her life depends on escaping it. Julianne must face down madness from without, just as it threatens from within. Isaac must resist an inappropriate attraction, but an indiscretion at a Mardi Gras ball-the pinnacle event for Mobile’s elite-forces their present wants and needs to collide with sins of the past.
Will Julianne accept the help she’s offered and get everything she ever wanted, or will she self-destruct and take Isaac down with her?

My Thoughts:

I started reading this book two days ago, while reading The Breakaway. Lol it has became a habit of mine to pick two books at a time, can't help it. The reason why I picked this book was that I am a sucker for books concerning teacher-student relationship, not that I want to have one in real life though. So did this book meet my expection? No. Am I disappointed with it? A little bit. No, don't mistake me, this book is great. The story is nicely delivered. The twists are they but no, it's not my kind of book. It has violence, forbidden love, psycotic mother, stupid father, oblivious brother, loneliness, and surprising not much about school. Weird.

Things I love:
1. Dave is absolutely a worth-a-life friend
2. Mr. Cline is the best teacher ever
3. Percy, the bar bouncer is so nice to her lol (This is the MOST NOT IMPORTANT character of all but I love him lol)
4. The Cover... so cool!

Things I hate:
1. Juli's dad is so raspberrying oblivious to her scars and bruises
2. Juli's dad keeps on defending her mom after all she has done to Juli
3. Juli is so raspberrying stupid for not telling anybody about her mom, come on, she's raspberrying SEVENTEEN, not seven
4. Isaac is a selfish jerk
5. Juli's mom is so raspberrying sick!!! Not just mentally but as an overall. Don't bother telling me it's her sickness, she should know better not to live with others when she's such a psycho!!
6. Juli's brother, R.J. is so raspberrying stupid to not notice that she is tortured by their mom

So as an overall, I don't like this book, not hate it though.

Spoilers:
Juli lost her virginity to Isaac but he left her when she needed her most. She ended up with her best friend, Dave, who was also Isaac's best friend.

Here's the sweet excerpt of the last chapter:

I take his hand and press it to my cheek. “I don’t deserve you.”
“Juli—”
“No, really. Right now, I don’t deserve you. I don’t deserve anyone. I think—”
I swallow, not sure how my next words will be received. But no matter his reaction, they’re true. I feel it in my gut that this is the right thing to do.
“I think I need some time. Not that I don’t love you, too. I do. But I need some time to myself to put me back together again. You don’t deserve a shell, and that’s all I am right now. You deserve the real me, not who I’ve been the past few months.”
He leans forward and presses his forehead against mine. “Gorgeous and smart.”
“You said you believe good things come to those who wait. Think you can wait a little longer for me?”
“You got it, kitten.”

Beastly Lindy's Diary

Just finished this book~

See the #1 New York Times bestselling story Beastly through Lindy's eyes! This is her diary, kept while living in captivity with the beast.Lindy's Diary captures all the romance and edgy mystery of the original!

Diary,

I am locked away . . . with no one to confide in but you . . . and him. His fur, those claws—they caught me off guard at first, but now I'm noticing something else about him—something deeper. It's the look in his eye. It tells me he's got a secret to keep. That's okay—I've got one, too. I think I'm falling in love with him. . . .

Lindy

Spoiler:

Lidy comes to live with a furry wolf because her father tricks her. Turns out the wolf is her crush from high school (when he was human) who was cursed by a wicked witch. She finds out about this at the end of the book. After their kiss, he turns human. They date and go back to high school.

My Thoughts:

This is such  a sweet Beauty and The Beast book, a modern version of it. It was written in a diary format and I love it! Although I stopped loving fairy tales years ago, this book has been a very interesting read for me. The stuff are easy to figure out and the writing is simple.

Crow's Row

Crow's Row (Crow's Row #1)
by Julie Hockley

For college student Emily Sheppard, the thought of spending a summer alone in New York is much more preferable than spending it in France with her parents. Just completing her freshman year at Callister University, Emily faces a quiet summer in the city slums, supporting herself by working at the campus library. During one of her jogs through the nearby cemetery while visiting her brother Bill's grave, Emily witnesses a brutal killing-and then she blacks out. When Emily regains consciousness, she realizes she's been kidnapped by a young crime boss and his gang. She is hurled into a secret underworld, wondering why she is still alive and for how long.
Held captive in rural Vermont, she tries to make sense of her situation and what it means. While uncovering secrets about her brother and his untimely death, Emily falls in love with her very rich and very dangerous captor, twenty-six year- old Cameron. She understands it's a forbidden love and one that won't allow her to return to her previous life. But love may not be enough to save Emily when no one even knows she is missing

A friend of mine gave me a copy of this book a few days ago. I don't know what to expect of it, so the first thing I checked was the ending. And reading the ending, I felt positive that I wouldn't read the book. Period. But guess what? I couldn't help but read it although I hate the ending! lol

One word to describe this book: AWESOME! (well in my world it's called raspberrying awesome lol). Everything is awesome. The plot is great. The characters are sweet. The setting is cool. The whole story is perfect. This book is the best book I've read so far (minus my favorite book, A Season of Eden lol).

Okay lets talk about the characters.

Firstly, Emily is a nineteen years old college girl. She stumbles upon a gang leader and gets kidnapped after witnessing a murder done by the handsome guy. The guy keeps him at his house. He's nice and does nothing to hurt her. Overprotective at times.

Next, Cameron. He's a twenty something guy who is a respectable gang leader. He keeps Emily as a captive in his house not really sure what to do with her. he's just trying to protect her.

Other than that, there's Rocco (my favorite character!), Cameron's brother. He's funny, and nice at times. Quite childish but is a good friend of Emily.

How the story goes? Easy. (Spoiler!) Eventually, Cameron and Emily fall in love with each other. Emily starts loving Cameron's friends. He works, and she stays at home. (And this is where I wanted the story to end, Happily Ever After, but no, it doesn't end this way!). One day the house gets attacked, and my beloved Rocco got killed. The attacker wants Emily (because she sorts of have lots of money left by her former-gang-leader-but-dead-brother). Emily escapes and has a good time with Cameron alone for a few days before she gets kidnapped again, by a dangerous gang leader who wants the money. (Yeah, people just love to kidnap her!). The gang leader tries to rape her. Cameron saves her. Cameron gets shot. She cries.

The end: Emily goes back to her old house, with Cameron's dog. She refuse to receive Cameron's money. She's thinking bout seeking a revenge for the death of Cameron, her brother (Bill) and Rocco. And Cameron is alive!!! He wants Emily to be away because he wants her to be safe. He returns to his old life. No, they don't end up together c:

Okay, here's my favorite quotes from the book:

"Whoever said that love hurts was wrong. Love is excruciating, especially when you can feel it slipping through your fingers and there is nothing you can do about it. Like someone was playing tug-of-war with my limbs, ripping to shreds whatever was left behind. What it would feel like when love was lost … I wouldn’t survive that. I closed my eyes, willing the tears to stay hidden behind my eyelids and focusing on breathing in and out instead of the pain that was ramming in my heart." - Emmily or Emmy

"How do you know when you’re There, I had once wondered. Maybe you’re lucky enough to notice the moment it’s happening to you. Maybe you’re able to block out all the other stuff that is, in the end, just background noise. But, most often, you don’t know that you were There until you lose it, or until it gets taken away from you. When you look back, you clearly see that time, that place, when all the pieces of you had finally fit together to make you blissfully happy, make you your whole self. Like one of those jumbo puzzles that take up your entire kitchen table for weeks, the tiny pieces are just cardboard shapes with colors splashed on them, and they don’t make any sense until you find their rightful place among the other pieces. When you put the last piece into place and the pieces now form a complete picture, that’s when you’re There. But while you were busy thinking about gluing the puzzle together, so that the pieces would never be apart again, someone comes from behind you, destroys the last piece and throws the rest of the pieces away. Even if you could muster up enough courage to put the pieces back together, the picture would never be complete again, because of the last missing piece … which, as it turned out, was smack in the middle, or in the heart, of the picture." -Emily or Emmy

"Knowing that Emmy was out there safe, living her life, even if it was without me, was enough … it had to be." - Cameron

OKAY GUYS, YOU NEED TO RASPBERRYING READ THIS ONE!!!! YEAH< I'M YELLING LIKE A SARGEANT HERE!!! SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???? OKAY, I'm sorry, that's a lil bit rude. Just read it okay, and share my giddiness.. xoxo
